This is one of my favorite Science fiction books of all time. It’s got poetry, It’s thought provoking, Its New Age, It’s sexy. Babel 17 is probably one of those thought provoking type books Sci-fi proponents should recommend to someone who isn’t a fan of the genre. In just over 200 pages Delany holds forth on language, warfare poetry, and sex in ways that were enough at the time I first read it to make me realize there was a lot I didn’t know about the world. There is a lot of punch and subtlety in this one. The crux of the novel, the use of language as a weapon.
